Almandine garnet abrasive for waterjet cutting and blasting

DEXPRO supplies Egyptian almandine garnet in calibrated grain sizes for waterjet cutting, abrasive blasting and filtration. Free silica is under 1%, which makes it a lower-dust alternative to silica sand for blasting.

Frequently asked questions

What mesh sizes are available?

20/40, 30/60 and 80 mesh. 80 mesh is the usual waterjet grade; 30/60 and 20/40 are blasting grades.

How much free silica does the garnet contain?

Less than 1% free crystalline silica, so it produces far less hazardous dust than silica sand blasting media.

Can garnet be recycled?

In abrasive blasting it can typically be reused 3–5 times, depending on the equipment and the job.

Which HS code applies?

HS 2513.20, natural abrasives including garnet.
